Packaging Tip

Choosing an Induction Liner

Looking to make your product tamper evident? Induction liners are one way to do this. Choosing the right liner is important, and is dependent on a few things, like the container’s material, and the application method. There are one-piece and two-piece induction liners available. The one-piece induction liner is either a foam-backed or paper-backed foil laminate, which will be completely removed from the cap after the sealing process. A two-piece liner has additional wax and pulp board layers. When applied properly with an induction sealing system, the wax will melt and be absorbed into the pulp board, releasing it from the foil liner. For improved resealing after the foil liner is removed, the pulp board remains inside the cap. There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing materials to package with. Plastic containers featuring continuous thread plastic caps will provide the most consistent seal with the least challenges, while there are some glass containers that need to be treated to properly accept an induction liner. Induction liners can be used with metal caps, however, this could become a safety hazard as the induction system will heat the metal cap, and could possibly melt the threads of plastic containers.
