How to Create Fermented Products with SKS Bottles and Jars

Whether you're just getting started or scaling up your process, our bottles and jars could be an essential part of your fermentation setup. To make fermented beverages like craft beer or homemade wine, begin by selecting a clean, food-grade glass container with enough headspace to accommodate gas buildup during fermentation. Our growlers and gallon jugs or wide mouth glass jars offer the durability and visibility needed to monitor the process from start to finish.

For beer and wine, start by mixing your ingredients in a sanitized container and applying a fermentation lock or vented closure to allow gases to escape without introducing contaminants. Once primary fermentation is complete, transfer the product to smaller glass bottles with airtight caps or corks for secondary fermentation or storage. SKS offers amber bottles to help reduce UV exposure, which can affect the taste and stability of your brew.

Our containers could also be used for fermenting a range of foods, from sourdough starters to pickled vegetables, thanks to their wide mouths and compatible lids. With the right setup and ingredients, SKS jars and bottles could help you craft high-quality fermented products at home or in a commercial setting.

* Please note: Containers sold empty. As always, you should test your product with the packaging to ensure product compatibility.
