- How does a shrink band add tamper evidence? These dark green shrink bands form an outer, visible tamper-evident seal around the closure. To open the container, the customer pulls the single vertical perforation to tear the band away, and a band cannot be reapplied once it has been removed, so a missing or torn band shows that the product has been opened.
- Can I apply a shrink band without a heat gun? Yes. A household hair dryer will work when applying shrink bands, but a heat gun is more efficient for fast, consistent production runs. With a heat gun, fill and close the container, slip the band around the neck, and heat it while slowly waving the nozzle back and forth for an even seal. SKS offers a heat gun kit.
- What are the material qualities and benefits of PVC shrink bands? PVC retains grease, oil, acid, and oxygen barriers even at 2 mil thick, has a high melting point so a band can be applied with heat without losing integrity, and holds the shape needed for a tamper-evident seal once it cools. PVC is naturally clear, but it can easily be colored and printed.
- What other colors and styles do these shrink bands come in? These bands are also offered in shiny black, matte black, gold, red, white, and yellow. Clear PVC shrink bands are available too, including clear bands in 25 mm to 58 mm heights, clear bands in 60 mm to 165 mm heights, and clear bands printed with "Sealed for Your Protection".
