Despite its name, apple butter is completely dairy-free: a thick, spiced apple sauce simmered until rich and velvety. Ingredients:
  • 6 Large Peeled and Diced Fuji Apples
  • 1/2 cup water or apple cider
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 8 oz Clear Glass Jelly Jars


Instructions:
  • Cook the Apples: In a large saucepan, combine the chopped Fuji apples and apple cider. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft, about 15-20 minutes.
  • Blend Until Smooth: Using an immersion blender (or transfer to a regular blender), blend the cooked apples until smooth.
  • Add Spices and Simmer: Return the apple puree to the saucepan. Add the sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Stir to combine. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens, about 30 minutes.
  • Finish with Vanilla: Once thickened, stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Jar the Apple Butter
    Remove from heat and carefully spoon the apple butter into sterilized SKS Bottle's 8 oz Clear Glass Jelly Jars. Seal tightly and allow to cool. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks or process in a water bath for longer shelf life.
