Label Tutorial: How We Created Spa Product Labels

In this step-by-step tutorial, we'll show you how we created one of our spa product label designs.
Try using some of these helpful techniques when designing your own product labels!

Remember to follow steps 1 - 3 on the main tutorial page to initially set up your label document. Then, go
through the steps below to create the "Be Curled" label!

Step 1: Change the Background Color for the Rectangular Label

Select the rectangle you drew in the previous step using the Selection or Direct Selection tools. The rectangle used here is 5" x 2". Enter the following values in the Color palette to change the color to a dark grey C=0, M=0, Y=0, K=90.

Step 2: Draw Lines

Select the Brush tool and draw a wave line from one edge of the rectangle to the other. Repeat this step drawing different wave lines until your label panel is full. We created 4 lines to fill our panel.

A. Change the line weight and colors.

1. Using the Selection or Direct Selection tools, click on each of the lines. Select all four at once by holding down the Shift key as you click each line.

3. From the top menu change the brush definition to charcoal-feather, as shown in menu above. After changing the brush definition your stroke will now look like the stroke seen below.

4. Set the stroke color to C=0, M=0, Y=0, K=70. Set the opacity to 50 %. If unsatifised with any lines select the line and press backspace or delete to try again.

Step 3: Create the Text

A. Creating the Title.

1. The font used for the "Be Curled" text is "Mistral" set to 30 pt size with a color fill of white. The character palette used is shown here.

5. With all type still selected press crtl + G to group all the text together to one object.

6. Select all by choosing crtl+A and choose align to center to center your label panel design.
