Tamper Evident Containers
Tamper evident packaging helps consumers identify whether or not a container has been opened prior to purchase. Tamper evidence is vital for a number of industries, from food and beverages to industrial chemicals and pharmaceuticals. While using tamper evident closures does not make a product tamper-proof, it can give customers peace of mind that the products they are buying have not been altered after leaving the manufacturer.
SKS carries a wide variety of products that can be used to create a tamper evident container. Choose from shrink bands, tamper evident closures, caps with plastisol liners and induction liners.

Shrink Bands
Shrink bands are an economical way to offer customers tamper evident containers. Our tamper evident shrink bands are made from 0.2 mm thick PVC plastic and are perforated for easy removal. Once removed, the shrink band cannot be reapplied to the container. Shrink bands are easy to use: simply slide the band over your container and cap and apply even heat until the band has shrunk snugly around your product.
If you are unable to find a shrink band on our website that is compatible with your container, we can help! SKS can produce custom shrink bands and sleeves in unique sizes, colors and materials to suit your needs. View our custom shrink band services page to learn more. For tips and further instruction, visit our shrink band information page.

The most important thing to remember when using shrink bands is to select the correct size for your container. This eliminates the possibility that the band can be removed intact. We stock an extensive selection of shrink bands in several colors that are compatible with many of our containers. To find a compatible shrink band for your container:
- From the container's product page, click on "Add-ons" to the right of the item and a dropdown menu will display any compatible shrink bands

Buy Tamper Evident Caps
Each of these ribbed plastic caps features a frangible ring attached to the bottom of the cap skirt. A compatible bottle will have a lip below the bottle's neck finish. The ring will break away from the cap and remain on this lip when the cap is unscrewed. Once this connection has been broken, the components cannot be reattached.
Buy Plastisol Lined Caps
These metal caps feature a ring of plastisol material applied where the lid and container opening would meet. When heated to proper temperatures, the plastisol liner will soften and melt around the container's opening. As it cools, the plastisol solidifies and forms an airtight seal between the cap and container.
Often, these caps include a raised, tamper evident button in the center. As the container cools, the internal pressure is reduced and causes the button to depress. When the cap is removed, the pressure inside the container is neutralized and the button pops back up. A properly sealed, unopened container will have a flat button and will be difficult to open - the broken seal will produce a loud "POP."
If the button is raised at the point of purchase and the cap can be removed silently, the container has already been opened. Because these closures must withstand high heat in order to function properly, it is recommended that they be used with glass containers only.

Induction Lined Caps
Induction lined caps provide superior leak protection and help ensure product freshness with a hermetic seal. The induction liners have several layers: pulpboard or PE foam, wax, foil, and a polymer coating. When passed through an induction machine, the heated foil melts the wax and polymer, creating a hermetic seal with the container when solidified. Once the liner has been peeled off the container, it cannot be reapplied. It also leaves a residue around the container opening, indicating that the seal has been removed.
An induction sealing machine must be used in order to create an airtight seal. For more information or to purchase an induction machine, click here.
The liners of our stock induction caps are backed with polystyrene foam and are printed with the text, 'Sealed for Your Protection.' These caps are compatible with polyethylene (HDPE & LDPE), polystyrene, PET, PVC & glass containers.
